Mission
The mission of the Liberty Transit System is to enhance the quality of life for residents, visitors, soldiers and families by providing safe, environmentally friendly and cost-effective transportation options.
Serving Liberty County
Liberty Transit is a Public Transit System comprised of Fixed Route and Paratransit Services operating within the city limits of Hinesville, Flemington, Walthourville, Fort Stewart and parts of Long County. Currently, the system operates three fixed-route buses and two paratransit buses. All vehicles have ADA-compliant wheelchair lifts and bicycle racks for multimodal passengers to safely travel within the service area.
Liberty Transit is owned and operated by the City of Hinesville. The system is governed by the Transit Steering Committee, comprised of the mayors of Hinesville, Flemington and Walthourville. Hinesville’s City Manager, Assistant City Manager, Transit Director, and the Liberty County Planning Commissions Executive Director also serve on the committee. Together, we’re investing in new opportunities to serve, support and strengthen our communities.
Our long-term goals are to expand service countywide and ultimately become a leader in creating a regional solution to support the area’s transportation needs. To achieve these long-term goals, the City of Hinesville is partnering with members of the local community, the county, and across the region, as well as local leaders and business partners.
